Giving Up on TV
/With Donald Trump taking over the FCC is expected to throw most rules out the window and let media groups buy up stations like they’re buying eggs at the grocery store.
Once the Trump FCC takes over you will see two types of media companies, the buyers, and the sellers.
Imagicomm Communications will fall into the seller category.
Imagicomm made news when it acquired ownership of some of the Cox Media Group stations in 2022, which were dumped by Apollo Global Management.
The company has 12 stations and they are putting them all up for sale. It is expected when the FCC tosses the rules on ownership that companies like Nexstar, Gray and Sinclair will be interested buyers.
KOKI in Tulsa will be a big interest to Sinclair, as they already own KTUL and can roll that into a market duopoly.
My advice to anyone working at KOKI, and the other Imagicomm stations for that metter, is update your resume and look to get out.
I don’t think the future of news at those stations is very bright.
Just saying…
