Back in March, FTVLive told you that longtime WANE (Ft. Wayne) Anchor Heather Herron was leaving the station.

She left the station and the business altogether, it was a big blow to the Nexstar station but they knew that they had popular Anchor Brett Thomas to keep the ship on course.

But now, Thomas has announced he is leaving and he is also getting out of the business. He is headed to Grand Rapids to become the Kent County Communications and Public Relations Director.

Thomas, main anchor at WANE is a former WOOD  in Grand Rapids. Now 's headed back to the Rapids, but not in TV news.

“I’m thrilled to have Brett join the incredibly dedicated and talented staff at Kent County,” said Wayman Britt, Kent County Administrator. “His creative energy, relationship building and communications skills will have an immediate impact on our commitment to communicate with and inform the citizens of Kent County about the wonderful resources of their County government and to help grow our influence in making Kent County an even greater place to live, work and play.”
