Orlando Reporter Battling Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
/WKMG Traffic reporter Jessica Sanchez has announced that she is locked in a battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“In the nine years I’ve been in Central Florida, the community and the people have become my home, my family, and I’m feeling that more than ever,” Sanchez said. “The thoughts, prayers and support I have received so far have been amazing! While this is tough news to take, I plan to turn it into an experience from which I can learn, grow and share.”
The American Cancer Society describes non-Hodgkin lymphoma as ”cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system.”
“WKMG’s thoughts and prayers are focused on Jessica’s health and recovery,” said Skip Valet, the station’s general manager.
Sanchez, who joined WKMG in 2004, is at a local hospital and is in good spirits, the CBS affiliate said.
The station said: “Jessica would like all of her viewers, neighbors and friends to know that it is early in her diagnosis.”
