Charlotte Reporter Hit by Car is Released from Hospital

A Charlotte television reporter was released from the hospital just over a week after she was hit by a vehicle during coverage of severe weather.
Reporter Caroline Vandergriff, from Time Warner Cable's News 14, was released from the hospital Friday and moved to a rehabilitation facility, according to News 14 News Director Jim Newman.
Newman added that Vandergriff says she "is feeling better every day, and can't thank everyone enough for all the thoughts, well-wishes and prayers."
Vandergriff was reportedly shooting video of traffic lights out at the intersection of East Morehead Street and Kenilworth Avenue in Charlotte on Wednesday, January 30, when the incident occurred.
Two vehicles collided at the intersection while she was shooting nearby, and one hit the reporter.
Vandergriff was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where she was last listed in stable condition the very next day.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with our friend and colleague," News 14 staff said in an online article posted on Thursday.
"News 14 Carolina and Time Warner Cable are doing all we can to support Caroline and her family. She remains hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center. She is awake, alert, upbeat and surprised at the attention this accident has generated. Her family flew in from Texas to be with her."
