Even Small Markets Can Look High Tech

Years ago, if you traveled through a small market and watched their newscast. It looked like their set was designed by Mrs. Green's 3 grade art class.

That's not the case anymore. With HD cameras, the news set has become more important than ever, even for the small market stations.

KPAX in Missoula, MT is a prime example. The station just debuted a gorgeous new news set for Feb book and it looks anything but small market.

The set was designed by Devlin Design Group and as DDG head guy Dan Devlin points out the KPAX set design is clean and modern; a bit minimalistic in its overall appearance but still fresh in appeal. It is infused with classic elements and a dash of modern technology. The soffit design leads the eye around the entire set and the light oak and grey woods blend nicely together, especially on the set walls, giving the set an overall expansive feel. Added to the mix is cool, brushed aluminum and sleek acrylics. The design also includes color changing LED lights to provide a variety of moods for various news segments.

“I’m thrilled to have so many different options that we can use during the newscast. Each show can have a different look for our viewers if we choose. And the colors really pop out too, “  says Mike Powers KPAX News Director.

Here's some more pics of the building process of their new set:
