/I got an email from someone yesterday, who screenshotted some posts from a Facebook group which was attacking me.
The post was anonymous (of course) and it was calling me out for post about KRIV host Caroline Collins. Since this person is not bold enough to put their name on the post, I won’t share it here.
But, I will address the post in a bit.
But, I want to address two replies from people, who did put their names on their posts. For that, I give each one credit.
First there is this post from April Simpson.
Instead, of going with a she said, he said, let me post the email exchange between myself and Ms. Simpson and let you decide if I was “very rude.”
As for Katie Anne’s post.
I have no idea who Katie Anne is, or what story she is talking about, but I can say without a doubt I never called her station and tried to convince her boss to fire her.
How can I make this claim, since I don’t even know who she is? That’s easy, because I Have never called a Station, News Director, General Manager or anyone else and asked for anyone to be fired.
Now, I have called both GM’s and News Directors, usually ones that I have a relationship with and have asked them to hire someone, or at least look at them. This has happened many, many times.
An example….
There was a female Reporter who was fired by her station after an incident. FTVLive reported on it and I still believe that she deserved to be suspended, but not fired. Either way, it wasn’t my call, I just reported the story.
After talking with people about the story, the consensus was that she was a very good Reporter, she was just a little hot headed. The Reporter had reached out to me and wanted me to pull the story, although she admitted that the story was accurate.
I called a friend of mine who was a News Director at a Florida station. It was in a bigger market than the one she was working in and it was on the beach in Florida. I asked the News Director to interview her and give her a second chance. Obviously, I could not tell the ND to hire her, but I asked the News Director to give he a look. A week later, the Reporter texted me to say that she got the Florida job. She made the move, did good work, met her future husband and is living a great life.
This same type of story has played out over and over again for me. I have made that some call to many News Directors and sometimes people are hired, and sometimes not. But, that isn’t a story you will see posted anonymously on some social media site.
Instead you will see people falsely claim that I called their station and tried to get them fired. That never happened.
Sadly, in Katie Anne’s post she writes about me calling her station to try and get her fired, but then she writes, “Not sure if that was true though, but I believe it.”
Is Katie Anne a Journalist? Why are you making a claim and then saying, “I’m not sure if it’s true.”? That’s not how Journalists work.
Again, I have no idea who she is, but hopefully someone explains how journalism works.
Now, back to the Caroline Collins anonymous post.
First off, I don’t know Caroline Collins, I have never talked to her and I don’t follow her on any of her social media outlets.
Every story that FTVLive has done on Caroline Collins have been sent to me from other Journalists. Often times, the people sending the stories work at her station or at the same company as she does.
These people are frustrated with her posts that they believe hurt the credibility of the industry, her station’s and Fox Television’s. In that I agree with them. Dancing and makeup videos do nothing to help the company or the station’s credibility.
But, if management at KRIV and Fox Television is Coll with that, that’s great for her. It doesn’t mean that other Journalists feel the same way and they reach out to FTVLive.
If they don’t reach out, I assure you, I would have never seen the post or the video. I spend as little time as possible on social media and when I am on, it’s only because someone pointed me to it.
So, what do you do when someone goes on social media and makes up posts about you which aren’t true?
Who knows….
But, I have always said, if you don’t have haters in this world, you’re doing something wrong.
