Watching The Newscast
/Yesterday, FTVLive told you about how Allen Media’s WSIL (Southern Illinois) is said to be producing over 6 hours of news a day with a staff of 7 or 8 people.
A longtime Journalist, decided to watch WSIL’s morning newscast on Wednesday and this is what they saw.
“I watched the morning news today.
The only story - and the only piece of video - was a vo/sot about a high school shop/engineering class that made a sign for the entrance of the campus. The video looked like the still pic you would see in the newspaper: four kids standing next to each other and the sign.
The rest of the segments I saw just had maps or full screen graphics, no video at all.
Weather came from Atlanta. At least they got rid of the Atlanta cityscape in the background.
Shameful.”
This is certainly not a knock on the few people still let working at WSIL. This just shows had bad the product gets when your owner cuts you done to almost nothing.
It is shameful as to what Allen Media has done to their stations. Sadly, AMG isn’t the only company to be doing this.
