TV Met to Charge for Weather Forecasts

Zach Covey from Spectrum News is asking viewers to pay him to get up to the minute forecasts during hurricane season and severe weather.

Covey is asking viewer to plunk down $2.00 a month to get his forecasts.

While I have no issue with someone asking people to pay for their content, I think it is a big issue if you’re working for a media outlet and asking viewers to pay.

According to his social media and the Spectrum website, he works for Spectrum News.

I would think that he would present the weather and give his forecasts as part of his job with Spectrum News. The fact that he’s asking people to pay extra, makes me think Spectrum is not getting all that they are paying for.

Again, if Covey was on his own, or started his own company, charging for his content would be perfectly fine. But, if you work for a media oulet, isn’t it your job to keep the viewers informed? Isn’t that what you are getting paid to do?
