Graham News Director Spikes Story

If you do a Google search for "Cy-Fair Book Banning," you'll be met a lot of links to stories about controversies involving this Houston area school district.

Cy-Fair Independent School District has made significant changes to its textbooks, removing entire chapters on controversial topics such as vaccines, climate change, and diversity.

Graham’s KPRC covered the controversy and did a story on it.

But, not longer after, the story was gone from the KPRC website and News Director Ana Lastra says she had the story pulled.

She posted her reasoning online after the station received a number of complaints.

She writes in part, “We have since reached out to Cy-Fair residents who expressed concerns and have extended another invitation to interview CFISD board members. We are awaiting their response and hope to develop a comprehensive follow-up story on this issue. We have also extended an invitation to meet with lawmakers who reached out to KPRC to have a better understanding of their concerns. After weighing all options we have made the decision to remove the video story from Click2Houston.com and our YouTube channel”

That is one very slippery slope you are headed down.
