She Got the Interim Role

Capitol Broadcasting Company announced that seasoned media leader Heather Gray will take on the role of Interim General Manager for WRAL and WRAZ based in Raleigh.

Gray has been with WRAL-TV since 2017, starting as Creative Services Director to Brand Director and Station Manager.

Gray steps into this role as Joel Davis, the current General Manager, prepares to move to Philadelphia to lead NBC affiliate WCAU in mid-March.

Jimmy Goodmon, CEO and President of Capitol Broadcasting Company, praised Gray's leadership, saying, "Heather is a dynamic and innovative leader who brings deep experience, strategic vision, and a strong commitment to local journalism and community service. Her leadership has been pivotal in WRAL's continued success, and we are confident that she will guide us forward during this transition."

Sounds like she should be the GM and not just be given the Interim title. She’s been there for nearly 10 years, it’s not like you don’t know who she is.

Before joining Capitol Broadcasting, Gray held leadership roles at 12 News/KPNX (Gannett/TEGNA) and worked in the newsrooms for First Coast News in Jacksonville, FL (NBC/ABC duopoly - Gannett), KCRA-TV (NBC-Hearst), Good Day Sacramento (then WB/Paramount) in Sacramento, CA, and KHSL-TV (CBS) in Chico, CA.
