FTVLive FIRST told you that Tegna owned KSDK in St. Louis had hired Carol Fowler to be their new News Director.

The hiring of Fowler is a bit surprising in the fact that she is a real Journalist. Is this a sign that Tegna might be looking to bring back real news to KSDK and give up on their “facebook on TV” news that they have been doing?

Fowler is the former News Director at WBBM in Chicago. She recently was working as an Adjunct Lecturer at Medill Journalism school at Northwestern University.

She knows how to do news, but seems the complete opposite of what Tegna is trying to pass off as news.

We can’t see Fowler hiring comedians to anchor the news, or having the station’s talent lay of the floor while fronting a story. This is the kind of stuff that Tegna does and this is so not Carol Fowler.

Has Tegna finally figured out what they are doing is not working?

Is the hiring of Fowler a sign that the company, or at least KSDK is going to go back to doing Journalism again?

Time will tell.
