CNBC reported that Cox is taking their final bids for their TV stations.

They write that Tegna, Hearst and Scripps are all planning on submitting final offers for 14 Cox stations.

Final bids are due by Jan. 30, said the people, who asked not to be named because the process is private. A deal could fetch more than $2 billion, and possibly close to $3 billion, the people said.

Let’s look at possible conflicts with these potential buyers.

With Hearst you have 2 conflict markets. Orlando, where Cox owns WTTV 9 and WRDQ 27, and Hearst owns WESH 2 and WKCF 18. Pittsburgh, where Cox owns WPXI 11, and Hearst owns WTAE 4.

With Tegna 4 conflict markets. Atlanta, where Cox owns WSB 2, and TEGNA owns WXIA 11 and WATL 36. Seattle, where Cox owns KIRO 7, and TEGNA owns KING 5 and KONG 16. Charlotte, where Cox owns WSOC 9 and WAXN 64, and TEGNA owns WCNC 36. Jacksonville, where Cox owns and/or operates WFOX 30 and WJAX 47, and TEGNA owns WTLV 12 and WJXX 25.

With Scripps, 1 conflict market. Tulsa, where Cox owns KOKI 23 and KMYT 41, and Scripps owns KJRH 2.

Rumors of the Cox deals have been all over the place. But is is likely that all 14 stations will not go to one owner.

But, since Cox is a private company and they are keeping many details quiet, it is likely we won’t know what happens, until it happens.

Stau tuned….
