Tegna owned WTSP has been nothing short of a train-wreck and now the station finally has a conductor.

FTVLive FIRST told you that the station had parted ways with General Manager Elliot Wiser back in September of last year. Sources say that Tegna had a hard time finding someone to take the GM job at the station.

Today, they have finally filled the job.

The station has named Mike Rodriguez as the new GM.

Not surprisingly, Rodriguez comes to the station after being out of the business for almost 5 years.

He started his own company called Fairchild Global Advisors last summer and is now going back into TV.

He understands this industry, has Florida roots and will make an immediate impact at WTSP and in the Tampa community,” said Tegna Vice President Lynn Beall.

Not sure what that "immediate impact" we be in the Tampa community, but we will check back tomorrow to find out.

Much of Rodriguez's TV experience was in Spanish television and this is his first foray in english speaking TV in quite sometime. Not surprisingly, he also has background in TV sales.

This is Tegna after all.
