Get Well Mickey

Former WKBW (Buffalo) News Photographer turned Lawyer Mickey Osterreicher went under the knife after doctors found a tumor in his brain.

For years Osterreicher worked for the local newspaper in Buffalo and then transitioned over to TV news as a Photographer.

While working in TV, Osterreicher was also going to law school and became a First Amendment lawyer. He does a lot of work for and with the NPPA.

The Buffalo News has a great story about Osterreicher and another former WKBW Reporter turned lawyer Steve Boyd.

"He's made a huge difference in the world," Boyd said, "and a huge difference in my life."

Osterreicher underwent brain surgery and just a day later he was updating his friends on his condition.

"I'm still here with just a little bit off the top. Thanks to the amazing doctors and staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, I am home recovering from what seemed like drive-thru brain surgery. Thanks to my wife Cathaleen for all her love and support and to my family Ian, Elena, Sean, Sloane, Ella, Hannah, Nestor, Nicole. I am truly blessed by the scores of friends, family, colleagues and wonderful people of WNY who I didn't even know for helping me to raise $17.000+ this year alone to help support cancer research and treatment and for my team Kids Just Want To Have Fun to reach our goal of $100,000 to help pediatric patients," Osterreicher said in an email to friends that included a link to help kids with cancer.

Get well soon Mickey!
