Welcome to the the Beginning of the End of TV News

Well, it's not like we didn't predict this quite awhile ago....

KTBY, the ABC/Fox affiliate in Alaska is handing over all of it's news coverage to viewers and their cellphones.

No more Photographers, no more trained Journalists, just people and their phones.

The station is using the Fresco app and will now let viewers cover the news and the station will put it on the air.

By farming out all the coverage to "citizen journalism", KTBY is expected to save a boatload of money. And....let's be honest, this is all about the money.

This is the first station that will be fully powered by "citizen journalism" but, we can assure you, it won't be the last.

Here is the email that Fresco sent out, signaling the beginning of the end for REAL TV news.

And here is the video, where you can watch a TV station sell their soul all in the name of making a buck.

Poor Ed Murrow is spinning at a break neck pace by now.

An experimental new model in the works at YourAlaskaLink in Anchorage is allowing Fresco to cover full packages for news events across the state, fully powering their newscast. YourAlaskaLink can now rely on Alaskan citizen journalists to provide the station on-demand coverage and real savings.
