Anchor's First Words on Air "Fuckin' Shit"
We're going to go out on a limb here and say this isn't the way to you want to kick off you're brand new job as an anchor.
Over the Weekend, it was A.J. Clemente's first night at the anchor desk for Bismarck NBC affiliate KFYR.
Things did not go well.
You could tell by his Tweet that he was a bit nervous about his first time anchoring for the station.
The GM and the ND gave him the go ahead and it wasn't exactly the start he was looking for. His first words on air were "Fuckin' shit."
Here's te video:
A.J.'s next Tweet was dead on the money:
Looks like A.J. did make into the record books for the fastest anchor to ever been suspended. Here's the statement the station posted on their Facebook page:
"To all of you who are writing in...I want to apologize for an incident that occurred prior to our early newscast this evening, when one of our employees used profanity on the air.
He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that's no excuse. WE train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case. WE can't take back what was said. The person involved has been suspended until we resolve the situation. All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch.
Monica Hannan, KFYR-TV News Director"
The late newscast opened with an apology and without A.J.
