Small Market Station Gets News Chopper
In big markets it's not uncommon for stations to have news helicopters that have 3, 4, 5 or even more cameras on board.
But, when you're in a small market, you have to do it more economically, which is the fancy word for cheap.
WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida has teamed up with a helicopter school to get the market's first ever news chopper.
Don't look for 5 on board cameras in this baby.
"Within five minutes we can come here from the airport, take on a camera man, we go to the site and be able to provide aerial photography of the news to our community here in Tallahassee which I think will very much be appreciated," says Dr. Thomas Diefenbach of Tallahassee Helicopters.
WTXL points excitedly on the station's website that their 2005 Robinson R44, Raven 2 helicopter has a glass cockpit and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment possessed by only three helicopter schools in the nation, and we have one.
A glass cockpit?!
Take that SKYFORCE 10 in Philly.
The station doesn't save what the "state-of-the-art equipment possessed by only three helicopter schools in the nation."
An engine maybe?
