He is "Retiring"
KWWL (Waterloo) evening Anchor Ron Steele is leaving the Allen Media station.
Steele started at the station in 1974, and everyone we heard from said he is a class anchor, and a hard worker.
“KWWL has been very generous to me and my family, and has given me some amazing opportunities to cover news, weather and sports over these five decades,” said Steele.
While many make a stop in a small market for just a single contract, Steele decides to stay for 5 decades.
Several people who contacted FTVLive say they doubt he decided to retire. “With Allen Media owning his station, I hear he has “reached an agreement” to retire at the end of Feb.” said one station insider.
If that’s the case, it is sad that this guy gave 50 years of his life to the station, and he is cast aside in a cost cutting move.
