Look Who's Not Coming to Dinner...

The White House Corespondents Dinner was last night, despite the fact that no one from the White House showed up.

President Trump long ago said he wasn't coming and he told all WH staffers that they could no longer attend either.

This dinner looked nothing like the WHCD dinners of the past decade. There was no President and no celebrities, it looked more like a local Kiwanis dinner at Sizzler.

The last President not to attend to dinner was Ronald Reagan...who was recovering from an assassination attempt.

Trump didn't show because he was scared that the dinner would make fun of him.

WHCD President Jeff Mason started the dinner off by saying, “We are here to celebrate the press, not the presidency.”

He also claimed the dinner was sold out, which was such a Donald Trump like thing to say.

Then Mason started heaping praise on the press, for which he is a part of. “We are not fake news…we are not the enemy of the American people,” he announced, receiving a standing ovation. “An attack on any of us is an attack on all of us. We must remain vigilant. The world is watching.”

Not sure how many people watched the Correspondents heaping praise on themselves, but again, the Kiwanis club dinner at Sizzler might have been just as exciting.

In fact the idea that the press covered a story about the press having dinner goes to show you how bruised their egos are by the Trump administration.

Comedian Hasan Minhaj was the headliner, a guy many in the press had never heard of until it was announced that he would be performing.

There was a joint appearance by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (pictured together).

Woodward stood before the Journalists and spoke to Trump, who again was not there, “Mr. President, the media is not fake news!” and advising journalists, “This is no time for self-satisfaction or smugness.”

Let's hope that some of the Journalists that attended the dinner also takes that message to heart.
