Fresno Anchor Signs Off Today

KMPH Anchor Justin Willis is signing off from the boob tube Today and making a play for the big screen.

The Fresno Bee writes that Willis, who is part of the Great Day morning team, posted an announcement on his Facebook page Friday. His last day will be Today.

“It’s been such an honor to share the news with the Central Valley. For those who tuned in, thank you. I hope I did it justice,” he wrote.

Willis got his start at KMPH in 2004 as a member of the floor crew and a news photographer. He also worked for nearly eight years at KSEE.

He has worked as a news anchor and producer at KMPH for the last four years.

“I’ve spent some of the past year doing a little filmmaking, working on short films and music videos. So I’ll be doing more of that here in town, and hopefully more so in Los Angeles,” Willis wrote. “It seems like a risky adventure, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to pursue, and the timing is right to go after it.”

Willis thanked his co-workers and colleagues at KMPH.

“You all have been so great to work with,” he said. “Thank you to my co-workers and to viewers for putting up with my shenanigans for the last four years. It’s been a lot of fun.”
